§ 5-1.    Composition.

    The Board of Fire Commissioners of the Village of Farmingdale shall consist of five (5) members, to be appointed and hold office in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance.

§ 5-2.    Terms of office for initial members.

    The three (3) members presently holding office as Fire Commissioners shall continue in office for their respective terms of one (1) year, two (2) years and three (3) years. Two (2) additional members of the Board of Fire Commissioners shall be appointed upon the adoption of this ordinance by the Board of Trustees, the term of one (1) of such members to expire at 12:00 noon on the first Monday of April 1969, and the remaining member for a term expiring at 12:00 noon on the first day of April 1970.

§ 5-3.    Subsequent terms of office; designation of Chairman.

    Thereafter and commencing with the official year starting at 12:00 noon on the first Monday in April 1966 and continuing annually thereafter, the Board of Trustees shall appoint successors to former appointees to the Board of Fire Commissioners whose terms of office have then expired. Such appointments shall be for a term of five (5) years. The Board of Trustees shall at each annual meeting designate one (1) of the members of the Board of Fire Commissioners to serve as Chairman of such Board for the official year then commencing. The term of office of such Chairman shall be for a period of one (1) year notwithstanding that his term of office as Fire Commissioner is for a period of five (5) years.

§ 5-4.    When effective.

    This ordinance shall become effective immediately.
